Bottom line: Check it out at your local library if you must; spend your $10 renting S1-3 of Buffy instead.I wrote an in-depth review at my livejournal here (warning: contains spoilers). The short version: underdeveloped characters; bloated, clunky prose; an excess of unnecessary description (especially in the early chapters); severe pacing issues. It doesn't even deserve the so-bad-it's-good label. I will grant, however, that I can see why it might appeal to someone other than myself. As a rather jaded aficionado of vampire fiction, I don't feel it brought anything new to the genre, but those unfamiliar with the genre might enjoy it.
